What kind of experiences awaits visitors on Ecuador’s seacoast? In contrast with the Highlands, the coast has no higher elevations than 800 meters above the sea level; the landscape gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy leisure days in white sand beaches, as well as discover Natural Reserves and National Parks.

Just in middle of the Ecuadorian Coast, is located Guayaquil. Guayaquil with more than two million inhabitants is the second important city of the country, and the main port and economical support of Ecuador. A trip in Ecuador is not complete without a visit to this beautiful city full of contrasts, kind people, historic buildings and natural places.
We invite you to run “The Route of the Sun”, traversing two Coastal Provinces, Guayas and Manabi. During this tour, while enjoying of the amazing coastal landscapes, you will be able to learn more about Ecuador's millenary cultures at archeological museums. Traveling along the Pacific coast, you will also pass by picturesque towns of fishermen located next to beautiful estuaries and mangrove swamps rich in both flora and fauna. The mangroves that grow on salty ocean water are teeming with crabs, shells and fish.
Lots of birds sing their life away on an incredible variety of trees. Most of the region’s wild life is concentrated in the Machalilla National Park.

We will start the tour through this beautiful city at the downtown, where we can have a nice overview of the old city by visiting Las Peñas Neighborhood, located at the slopes of Santa Ana Hill.
From here it is possible to enjoy a magnificent view of the modern Malecon 2000, located at the shores of Guayas River, as well as an example of original architecture in Guayaquil.
At the Malecon we will visit La Rotonda, an important monument that immortalizes the meeting between Simon Bolivar and San Martin, as well as The Moorish Clock Tower and other attractive sightseeing, representatives of Guayaquil culture and history.
We will continue with a walk at the old town through 9 de Octubre Avenue, where we will visit the Seminario Park well known also as the Iguanas Park and the Centenario Park, where its main monument represents the Independence of Guayaquil and the leaders that took part of it.

We will visit the Historical Park of Guayaquil, located at the shores of Daule River on the way to Samborondon.
The Historical Park is considered a place of great educational and recreational value, as it tries to rescue the main period between the last decade of century XIX and the first two decades of century XX, where one of the biggest economic boom, based on agriculture, took place in the province.
During the journey we will visit three different zones: The first one shows the typical vegetation and animals of the region.
The second zone, called traditions zone, displays a sample of the culture at the Coast so as natives´ lifestyle.
The third one, consist on a complete representation of the architecture during XIX and XX centuries.

We will drive through 16 Km. on the way Guayaquil – Salinas, in order to visit the Cerro Blanco Ecological Reserve.
This private reserve, which is considered one of the last remaining of dry tropical forest of Ecuador, lodges a great diversity of flora and fauna.
Here, it is possible to find more than 210 species of birds, including the green macaw, kinkajous, tamanduas, and 33 species of mammals, such us puma, jaguars, howler monkeys, peccaries and others. Cerro Blanco is considered as a paradise for bird watchers.
We will hike trough this Reserve where we may see many different birds species and if we are lucky maybe any other animal.

Manta - Montecristi - Puerto Lopez - Agua Blanca
Early in the morning take a flight to Manta. As our arrival, we will enjoy of a short city tour, which commences by visiting a Tagua (vegetal ivory) Factory. We will continue towards Puerto Lopez, on the way visit the town of Montecristi, the nest of the famous "Panama Hats". We will aso visit La Pila with its ceramic wonders. Arrival in Puerto Lopez and in the afternoon visit Agua Blanca Community and museum where you will learn about the millennium cultures of the region. Overnight

Isla de la Plata
Full day tour of Isla de la Plata where due to the route of the cold Humboldt sea current coming from Antarctica and going towards the archipelago, you can find flora and fauna species normally found in the Galapagos Islands. Here you can find birds such as Blue and Red Footed Boobies, Sea Lions and many more. A Lunch Box will be served.

Los Frailes - Quito
After breakfast go to Los Frailes Beach. This beautiful white sand beach belongs to Machalilla National Park. You can spend the morning on the beach and in the afternoon drive to Portoviejo or Manta for your flight back to Quito.

Drive through the Route of the Sun to Guayaquil. Visit the Salango and Amantes de Sumpa Museums on the way. On this day you will enjoy the picturesque fishermen towns and have closer contact with its culture. This trip will also expose the productive, rich earth of the coast. Arrive in Guayaquil and in the afternoon enjoy a short city tour.
