This Andean farm, surrounded by an awesome landscape, provides visitors a unique natural and cultural experience. Angamarca is located 4 hours from Quito; the farm includes 1000 hectares from the at 4200 m.a.s.l. paramo highland down to the at 1800 m.a.s.l. located humid forest.
Day 1.
Quito – Cotopaxi National Park
Drive along “The Volcanoes Avenue” towards the world’s highest active volcano, Cotopaxi (5,897 meters). Drive on a third order road through a Pine forest to Limpiopungo Lake located 3,800 meters above sea level along the slopes of the magnificent Cotopaxi Volcano (If desired it is also possible to drive towards to parking lot in order to hike towards the Rivas Refuge). Overnight in a nice hacienda (B)
Day 2.
Quilotoa Crater Lake – Angamarca.
Drive towards the amazing Zumbahua Highlands. Enjoy the nice landscape formed by farm lands of indigenous communities of the area. Arrival to the rim of Quilotoa Crater, where we can descend to the impressive lagoon that fills the vent of an ancient volcano. Continue towards Angamarca Farm, located at 3510 m.a.s.l., in a typical and simple shelter, which offers all facilities to guests. We will have dinner, Andean party, and music. (B, D)
Day 3.
Angamarca
Very early in the morning, we will start our horse riding tour towards the amazing highlands, where an unforgettable adventure will be waiting for us, we will visit the habitat of bullfighting bulls, then we will make a journey by the surroundings of the flock, learning the art of the chagrería from the native cowboys; we will enjoy a community lunch in an Andean hut, and in the afternoon we will return to the farm, and stay overnight (FB)
Day 4.
Angamarca
Very early in the morning, we invite you to milk the cow of the country farm, then we will visit the indigenous community of TUCUA where we will share the sowing activities or the harvests of some Andean products (potatoes, beans, pea, goose, melloco) we will enjoy this experience next to the family members of the indigenous owner of the land farm. In their hut, we will savor an “Andean Delight”, some Andean product at the heat of the bonfire; and then, we will return to the hut. Overnight (FB)
Day 5.
Angamarca – Quito
Morning at leisure just to relax, or do some trek around the hacienda. Afternoon return back in Quito. (B)
